boutofbooks

Yay! It’s time for another Bout of Books readathon, and although I (Judith) have done a lot of them in the past, I haven’t been to join in a while. But now it’s still summer, university hasn’t started yet, and I’m ready to read all the books. Bout of Books is organized by Amanda from On a Book Bender and Kelly from Reading the Paranormal and it lasts for a week. I like it because it’s very low-pressure and you can do whatever you want. Also, the Twitter chats are glorious. (Note from Ellice: The Twitter chats are the best! They’re worth participation alone, plus I love how these ladies emphasize that if you read ANYTHING, you have succeeded at Bout of Books. WOOOO!)

goals

Judith: My main goal is to finish Crown of Midnight and read Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas. Ideally, I would have enough time left to also read Dark Triumph and Mortal Heart by Robin LaFevers, but let’s be real, I’m never going to. Perhaps I will read a contemporary after my current fantasy binge. We’ll see.

Ellis: This is my first Bout of Books. I didn’t think I’d ever be able to participate because these readathons usually coincide with my uni exams but when I found out one was happening this week, I immediately wanted to join. I’m mainly hoping to read the rest of the Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce (In the Hand of the Goddess, The Woman Who Rides Like a Man, and Lioness Rampant) and if I get lucky I might be able to fit in a good chunk of my Lumatere reread as well, though I doubt it, since I have to pick up some extra shifts at work this week. I’m including The Rose Society by Marie Lu, The Boy Next Door by Meg Cabot, and How to Be Bad by E. Lockhart, Lauren Myracle and Sarah Mlynowski, just so I have options. I’m never going to finish all of these, but I like having options.

Ellice: I think I’ve participated in Bout of Books 3 or 4 times now? I enjoy it every time. It’s like having an awesome support system that shares your love of reading. My goal this week is to finish the book I’m currently reading, The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan, and to read First & Then by Emma Mills (can you say EXCITED? I can’t wait for this one!), More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera (our August book club selection), and The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas (because I MUST gain some ground in our coblogger challenge… my cobloggers are shamelessly kicking my ass in this challenge. haha). I’m excited about all of these, so I really, reallllly hope I’m able to get to them this week!

progress

Monday

Judith: I finished Crown of Midnight, but I had already started reading that before Bout of Books, so I only read about 250 pages.

Tuesday

Judith: I started Heir of Fire, but only read about 67 pages so far. This book is too much to handle for me.

Wednesday

Judith: Another slow reading day. I read exactly 100 pages of Heir of Fire today, but that’s because I had to work.

Thursday

Friday

Saturday

Sunday

Total

Judith: finished 1 book, read 417 pages
